What is GEO?
Posted by Martin Collignon
AI is becoming the search engine
Over the past few months, the way people search the internet has changed. More and more users are bypassing traditional Google search results pages.
These tools analyze thousands of pages… and directly recommend businesses, products, or locations.
This is where GEO comes into play.
A strong digital presence and positive reviews therefore serve as an important sign of trust.
1. Answer the questions your customers have
AI systems prioritize content that directly answers users' questions. For example, including relevant FAQs on your pages allows you to address:
- – How does your service work?
- – What are your rates?
- – What sets you apart?
These responses often serve as the source that AI uses to generate its answers.
2. Speak as you would speak to your customers
The language used on your website should be natural and conversational.
Artificial intelligence systems understand written content much better when it’s presented as if you were explaining your business to a customer, rather than in overly sales-oriented or technical language.
3. Help AI understand your business
Your website should clearly explain who you are, what you offer, who your target audience is, and what makes you unique
A best practice is to create a page that summarizes the essence of your business, as well as a technical file (such as an llms.txt) that helps AI systems identify the important pages on your site.
4. Showcase your reputation
AI systems analyze vast amounts of data to determine which companies to recommend.
In particular, they analyze:
- – customer reviews
- – mentions on other websites
- – the consistency of your online information
5. Organize your content
AI engines are particularly good at analyzing structured data, especially that contained in schema.orgtags.
This information allows us to provide a detailed description of your company, your services, your products, your prices, your reviews…
They help AI systems quickly and accurately understand your offer.
